Chemical Peels

If you’re bothered by acne scarring, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, rough texture or fine lines and wrinkles or if you are just looking for a simple way to rejuvenate your skin, chemical peels may be the right treatment option for you!

A chemical peel is an in-office treatment that involves applying a chemical solution to the skin that causes a reaction like a sunburn which causes the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel off. Peeling usually involves redness followed by scaling that can last between three to seven days. As the old, outer layer of skin is exfoliated and removed, it stimulates the growth of new, healthy skin cells that are smoother and less wrinkled than the old skin.

Chemical Peel Treatments by Shades Valley Dermatology

The fall and winter are the perfect time for a chemical peel due to the skin being temporarily more sensitive to the sun therefore sunscreen above SPF 30, should be applied and worn every day. It should be a “broad-spectrum” sunscreen, meaning it protects against the sun’s UVA and UVB rays.

We offer several different chemical peels ranging in different strengths. Our providers can help you determine which chemical peel is right for your skin and your desired results. One treatment may be enough for some patients to achieve their optimal results however some patients may need additional treatments. Results vary but typically patients see a significant improvement in the appearance of pigmented areas. Some patients do not experience peeling however if you do not notice peeling, please know that you are still receiving the benefits of the peel.
